Pretty Little Firkin and a Clock

I know I'm preaching to the choir when I say this, but isn't paint just the next best thing to peanut butter and jelly?  If only it was as easy to fix all of life's problems as it is to fix something ugly with paint, we'd have world peace within an hour.  I never cease to be amazed at how something can go from worn out and ugly, to totally transformed - in so little time, and for so little money.

For example, I picked up this little wooden firkin at a thrift store last week.  The metal bands were loose, the finish was pretty trashed and there was wax spilled inside it...but it was cheap and paint is a miracle cure, so I knew there was hidden potential there.

I knew it would look better with some fresh paint and a little distressing, but I think it's ridiculously adorable now.  If it was a baby, I'd be squeezing its cheeks.

I've had my eye out for a little brass desk calendar for some time and finally found one.
Isn't it a cutie?

While I had the paint out, I gave a little makeover to a clock I picked up for $3 at the same thrift store.  It's cute, but a little drab.  Nothing a little paint can't fix though!

Once our bedroom gets remodeled, I'll be using this cute clock in there.
